Love isn't Cancelled - Best of 2020
What a year.
We will all remember 2020. We’ll hold onto our stories and share pictures and tell our families about it for years to come. My role as a wedding photographer changed so much this year. Physically, my wedding day gear list grew to include a mask and enough hand sanitizer to take a bath in. I became less hands-on and more attuned to keeping my distance and looking for moments to unfold in front of me. But also holistically, the importance of capturing moments and documenting memories this year felt much more urgent. Shared moments felt all the more tender, and the bittersweet void between embracing and casual human touch was felt all the more profoundly.
There is no doubt that my couples this year celebrated their love in all kinds of ways. I followed my couples to destinations like Marfa, Austin and Las Vegas. I shot intimate weddings and portraits on family properties, at boutique hotels and on busy city streets. My couples eloped, they exchanged vows privately and on zoom, they delighted in seeing each other down the aisle for the first time, and they took a private moment for themselves, just the two of them in the world.
2020 has cancelled a lot of things - some we mourn for, and some we don’t. But it is clear to me that it has not cancelled love. I am filled to the brim every day with gratitude that my couples trust me to capture these little moments of art and happenstance, and I can’t wait to keep documenting the lives and loves of all my future couples.
Getting married in 2021 or 2022? I would LOVE to capture your little moments. Reach out and tell me all about yourself - I can’t wait to meet you!
